Luxe Pack Monaco Defines LUXE trends

From October 21-23, visitors to Luxe Pack Monaco will not only have the opportunity to view luxury packaging solutions from leading international suppliers, they’ll also be able to “pick the brains” of prominent packaging and design experts.

What defines luxury packaging? From bright red “snake paper” to transparent caps, frosted jars to sustainable compacts, stand-up sachets with reclosable caps to laser decoration, metal cooling and dispensing tips to gift boxes that look like gifts themselves, visitors to the 22nd edition of Luxe Pack Monaco, to be held October 21-23, will be treated to a wide array of options that instantly signal a prestige package. More than 300 luxury packaging suppliers serving perfumery, cosmetics, wines and spirits and other high-end segments will fill Monaco’s multi-level Grimaldi Forum, at the edge of the palm-lined Mediterranean Sea. The majority of exhibitors provide packaging to the upscale cosmetics, fragrance and personal care markets.

Luxe Pack Monaco draws an international crowd.
Due to attendee demand, Luxe Pack’s educational program has continually expanded, and this year, a number of inspiring designers have signed on to offer insight from various disciplines.

Special guest, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, is both a designer of objects and interior environments. Named “Creator of the Year” in 2007, he has designed both perfume bottles and prestigious sites. At Luxe Pack, he will offer a presentation on October 21 at 2pm, on his aspiration and inspirations, through various projects, from interior architecture to the design of perfume bottles.

Duchaufour-Lawrance will also participate in Luxe Pack’s roundtable “Designer and Brand Identity,” focusing on how famous designers bring their creativity to a brand. Vera Strubi, former CEO of Thierry Mugler Parfums, and Gilles Lipovetsky, sociologist and author, will join him.

Almost every exhibitor now offers sustainable packaging choices. Luxe Pack in Green will showcase the latest innovations in this area from the Luxe Pack exhibitors.

Lips of Luxury, another dedicated space, will highlight a selection of lipsticks from 1900 to today, telling the story of lipstick, its designs, red color and the art of making up lips.

The winners of the Pentawards competition will be presented in Monaco, and displayed on site. This competition awards the best creations from packaging designers, manufacturers and brand owners worldwide in 44 categories in five areas: Food, Beverages, Body, Other Markets and Luxury.

Once again, exhibitors’ innovations will be analyzed through the Luxe Pack Trends Observer, a workshop in which recognized design and packaging experts identify trends represented
by exhibitors’ packaging.

Notable Sessions

Among the numerous sessions scheduled for the three-day event are:

• Optimize the Protection of Your Packaging and Its Design in Europe: Are you hesitating between author copyrights and drawings or pattern copyrights? Specialist lawyers will provide answers.

• Forget Desire…Creating the Need for Luxury: Internationally known packaging designer Marc Rosen and his panel discuss the end of conspicuous consumption and why brands must now make “need” part of the marketing strategy.

• East Luxe: The Pot of Gold: This presentation, with many visuals, will look at what luxury brands from Europe and North America can learn from the creative forces of the Middle East and Asia.
